I just got back from an almost 2.5 week stay in Portland, Oregon for work. This time, I was able to stay in a trendy Airbnb apartment, which turned out perfectly and made me feel right at home. I truly felt like I had moved to a new city… it was super exciting!
I was so lucky that my boyfriend was able to come out the first weekend I was there to visit. This was our first official “vacation” as a couple after 5 years of dating! I knew he would love visiting – he loves craft beer and I thought the wilderness and artsy-ness of Portland would really suit him. I don’t think this is going to be our last trip together to Portland.
We hiked to Angel’s Rest, which was a fairly easy hike with an amazing view from the top. I highly suggest it! Photos don’t come close to doing it justice. I think this is hike is pretty accessible for all levels of hikers. We never hike and it only felt difficult a couple times. The view is SO worth it.
Once Andy left, I did a lot of walking, a lot of eating, and a lot of sightseeing. But mostly just eating. I was lucky to be able to use ClassPass while I was there and get in a few yoga and spin classes. But for the most part, I walked everywhere, sometimes 5 miles a day, and the weather was so perfect for my stay. Apparently, Portland has gross, rainy weather but of the 4 total weeks I’ve been there this year it has been absolutely beautiful.
I highly encourage everyone to visit this beautiful city at least once in their life. If anyone is considering it, please reach out to me! I’ll visit 3-4 times a year for work, so while I’m not a legal resident, I think I’m turning into a semi-expert. 🙂
That hiking view is beautiful! Portland’s at the top of my list of U.S. places to visit. I’m hoping to get out there sometime this year or next!
You definitely should! Let me know if you need suggestions for areas to stay and eat!
