Schick Disposable Razors | Just Peachy BlogLast week, I tweeted about how much I enjoyed using a men’s disposable razor while I was on vacation in Mexico. I asked my friends/followers if they had ever used men’s razors too and the response was kind of astounding. Astounding as in it may or may not be my most engaged-with tweet. (I didn’t look it up, but it seemed like at least half of my friends tweeted to tell me they use men’s razors.)

So when Shick reached out to me about their best disposable razor lines for men and women, I knew it was a sign. I took a drive over to Walmart and ended up snatching 2 packs (one for women and one for men) to test side-by-side. My initial thoughts? “Why have I been paying $40 for razor heads alone?”, “Why have I never tried a men’s razor before?” and “So smooth.”

Comparing the Schick Disposable Razors | Men’s v. Women’s:

[one_half]Men’s Schick Hydro 5 Disposable Razor

  • 5 blades
  • Hydrating barrier strip
  • Includes vitamin E and aloe

How it Feels: This razor latches on to your skin and gets such a close shave! It feels like there’s a magnet in the blades and on your skin, but with zero irritation and I had no cuts! The hydrating strip is so moisturizing it almost feels like it’s a built-in shaving cream barrier. It feels a bit more “straight-edge” than the women’s razor in that it doesn’t hug the curves as much. I would be very careful with it in delicate areas.

  • 5 blades
  • Curve-sensing blades
  • Includes moisturizing serum

How it Feels: Incredibly moisturizing! I love that the blades really move and curve which is helpful around the underarms and around the knees. It gets a nice close shave, but it’s more moisturizing than close. No irritation and no cuts, plus it feels nice in the hand.

What’s the verdict? I’m totally digging the men’s disposable razor over the women’s. I think the blades may be made differently, since men’s faces have coarser, thicker hair than women usually do on their legs. Unfortunately, I probably have thicker leg hair than most (TMI? Sorry, I hate it too.), plus it’s dark so a closer shave totally wins for me.

If you’ve been just a bit disappointed with your usual razors, I highly suggest trying out the Shick disposable razors. Even the men’s version! And now you can snap a Summer Selfie and win $10,000 for tuition with #SchickSelfieSweeps!
