With the beginning of the new year, lots of people have big plans to stay in shape — myself included! So I’ve decided to start a new weekly Fitness Friday series where I share my favorite fitness tips and tricks and also my favorite Atlanta fitness studios. To start it off, I just had to share my favorite fitness essentials to get you prepared to work it out.
If you’re going to start with just one fitness item, it’s got to be a fitness tracker. After experiences with many different ones over the years, I’ve landed on the Apple Watch for my daily workout classes and running (you can see my review of it here!). Not only is it so good looking, but you never have to switch between the fitness watch and the fashion watch. Another awesome work-to-gym accessory is the Corkcicle Tumbler. This thing keeps my water cool through hot yoga and in my warm car.
For yoga, I have to use my Lululemon The Mat (5mm). It is literally the only solution I’ve found for a non-slip experience during hot yoga, because I sweat a lot. If you regularly practice yoga, I believe it’s a must-have — along with the Lululemon headbands.
When it comes to what you’re really wearing, you have to look fashionable to balance the sweat and flushed face (or is that just me?). I’ve found that Old Navy absolutely makes the best workout clothes based on affordability and style. I just love their high-waisted workout pants because they’re slimming, comfortable and high-quality. Since I have a large chest and hate flimsy sports bras, the best sports bra I’ve found is from Victoria’s Secret. It’s definitely the best for high cardio.
If you need one thing in your life, just for living, I can’t say enough about the Nike Flyknits. I have 3 pairs and counting… you can never have too many? Lastly, if you’re running or exercising with a lot of movement, wireless headphones will change your life.
Where are you going to take all of these new accessories? Use ClassPass to find your new favorite studio in your city. For $99, you can get unlimited classes at top-notch, boutique studios that offer barre and cycling. I’ve not only found a passion for new practices (yoga!), but I’ve also discovered some amazing local studios.
