Crafty girls listen up! I know you’ve heard of chalk paint by now, right? And if so, I’m sure you’ve hear of Annie Sloan. If you’re in need of a new look for your old dresser or a complete refinish of your kitchen cabinets, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is where it’s at. And don’t feel like you have to go this alone, The Bird and the Bee in Smyrna, GA is your first (and only) stop.
I was so excited to get invited to a fun DIY chalk paint workshop at The Bird and the Bee this week with some of my favorite fellow bloggers. The Bird and the Bee hosts these chalk paint workshops throughout the year in their super cute little cottage in downtown Smyrna, GA (right down the street from my old office!). Bonus: the front of the property is the clothing boutique – definitely check that out. One. Stop. Shop. Keep reading for a recap of the event!
The workshop started with a rundown of the boutique, the history of the store and the owner’s passion and love for what she does. Really inspirational and I love, love hearing other Girlboss stories. We then started by painting large pieces of chipboard and wood to get a real feel for how the paint works and how the wax is applied. There are so many awesome techniques you can apply including natural crackling and an antique finish using dark wax and other paint colors! I feel fully prepared to buy up their lot of chalk paint and refinish every piece of furniture in my place now. It’s so easy to work with, Annie Sloan offers the most beautiful colors and no, you don’t need to sand or prep the wood.
If you’ve ever wondered about chalk paint or dreamed of refinish Aunt Myrtle’s gorgeous dresser, then stop by The Bird and the Bee in Smyrna to pick up some chalk paint, learn all there is to know about painting and sign up for a chalk paint workshop! You won’t regret it and neither will your furniture.
Thank you to The Bird and the Bee for hosting this awesome free chalk paint workshop!
