How to Wear Camo with Style
Off the Shoulder Tank | Camo Jeans | Knot Necklace | Suede Heels
If you’re anything like me, you’ve avoided camouflage patterned clothing like the plague. I’m not a hunter, nor will I ever be, and I don’t even have a southern accent. I’m more than appreciative for our servicemen and women, but I’m not trying to act like I’m on there level in any capacity. However, camo isn’t just for the above + Avril Lavigne circa 2002. (You know you had those Abercrombie kids boy shorts… no? Just me?) If you’re looking to try this trendy pattern, but don’t know how, keep reading.
Balance with a Feminine Piece
I paired my camo skinnies with a flowy, feminine top. The cold shoulder-off the shoulder combo on the top really adds that feminine edge which perfectly balances out the utility jeans. Similarly, if you’re trying to wear a camo top, pair it with a flowy skirt. A camo blazer looks amazing over a lace camisole and leather skinnies. It’s all about getting as close to 50-50 masculine-feminine as possible.
Pair with a Pop of Color
Styled camouflage looked great with pink, especially hot pink. Wear neutral clothing, but choose a hot pink belt or a blush handbag for a pop of feminine color. This also works with neon green and yellow! Just make sure that all of your pieces aren’t working against each other. Choose a statement necklace only if you’re wearing a basic tee.
Always Wear Elevated Sandals
This may be a little old fashioned, but whenever I wear any clothing that makes me feel “masculine” I like to wear heels to combat it. They don’t even have to be delicate, girly sandals, they can be bootie heels! Just a little touch of that elevated shoe will make you feel more comfortable (in a way).
