The Marietta Square is one of the most charming local towns here in North Atlanta. I live just 20-30 minutes from it and the agency I work for is located right on it as well! You could say I’m pretty well-versed in all that happens here.
I especially love Marietta Square at Christmastime. There’s something about all of the string lights and festive decor that puts you right in the spirit! However, this year was the first Christmas I took part in the Marietta Pilgrimage, which is an annual holiday event where you get to tour local homes all decorated for Christmas. The historic homes here are so charming and absolutely beautiful, so getting to go inside them (!) is amazing and seeing them decorated all festive is even better.
It’s the perfect little event for you and your mom, grandma, aunts or anyone else who appreciates a good historic home tour complete with Christmas trees, garland and lights. They even have a Candlelight tour for nighttime charm and each home has tour guides who give you interesting historical facts about each house. My mom and I loved walking the charming streets, taking in each unique home along the stops. Public buildings (like museums and the post office) participate as well and are open for free for tour guests.
After we toured the homes, we did a little bit of weekend shopping. I love the small town feel, and after working with some of the shop owners, I know just how long some of these stores have been operating as family businesses on the Square. It’s pretty amazing to see the legacy these shops and restaurants have left on the Square.
